I Design Systems, Build Them, and Ship Them.

Systems thinking and systems building. I design how the pieces fit, then build them end to end: back-end services and APIs, the front ends people use, the cloud infrastructure underneath, and the custom internal tools a business relies on every day. As a certified Scrum Master and Product Owner, I plan the delivery too.

01 · About

Four Kinds of Work That Make Each Other Better.

My code is better because I run delivery, and my delivery is better because I ship code.

Full-Stack Engineering

Back end. Python and Django: data models, REST APIs, sign-in and admin tools, plus the integrations and automation that feed them.

Front end. Responsive, accessible, server-rendered pages and dashboards in HTML, CSS and Tailwind, designed from UI/UX mockups.

LLM Engineering

I engineer how AI coding agents work, not just what they are asked. That means model harnesses with clear rules for which model does what, planned architecture broken into milestone and phase releases, and lead agents coordinating sub-agents with a review gate before anything merges.

I build the tooling too: custom agent skills and workflows, plugins and mods. This site was built that way.

Scrum and Product

Certified Scrum Master (PSM I and II) and Product Owner (PSPO I). I run the Scrum events, own the backlog, and break big projects into steps a team can finish, each with clear acceptance criteria.

Org Building

I build out new departments, and have done it more than once. Each build covers written procedures (SOPs), how teams across the business talk to each other, a shared Kanban board, and dashboards that replace status meetings.

03 · Leadership and Delivery

I Lead the Work, Not Just Do It.

Each claim is tagged with where I did it.

Item, Inc. 2024 – present Charles River cross-department team lead, 2020 – 2024

Technical Leadership

Leading engineering work

  • Epic ownership. Scoped multi-phase data and cloud epics, wrote their acceptance criteria and split them into deliverable tasks. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Architecture proposals. Proposed the event-driven redesign with diagrams and a refactor plan, and backed it with a monthly cloud-cost forecast before rollout. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Evidence over opinion. Used batch-test results to show an approach would not cover enough, then re-planned the data sources with stakeholders. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Review and quality. Led code reviews and checked changes with functional and performance tests. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Enablement. Wrote runbooks for cloud setup, imports, search troubleshooting and AI-tool installs, and trained staff to run the tools themselves. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Leading a large team. Ran day-to-day delivery for a large technician team, balancing tight deadlines against strict procedure. Where: Charles River
  • Quality under regulation. Held work to FDA, EPA and ECHA/REACH standards, with documentation ready for inspection at any time. Where: Charles River

Scrum

Running the team rhythm

  • Scrum events. Facilitated sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives that kept teams and stakeholders aligned. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Removing blockers. Cleared blockers and operational risks across teams without trading away quality or safety. Where: Item, Inc., Charles River
  • Operating model. Led the build of a new department’s SOPs, communication framework, Kanban board, shared dashboards and self-check checklists. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Retrospective habits. Introduced short retrospectives, clearer handoffs, checklists and visual workflow signals. Where: Charles River
  • Complex handoffs. Kept work moving through handoffs between toxicology, surgery, vivarium and equipment teams. Where: Charles River
  • Cross-team and vendor. Worked with ERP developers and SaaS vendor support to unblock integrations and diagnose platform issues. Where: Item, Inc.

Product Ownership

Deciding what gets built

  • One backlog. Owned and prioritized a single cross-team backlog for business, engineering and operations teams. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Definition of done. Broke initiatives into small, shippable epics and tickets, each with clear acceptance criteria. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Requirements to process maps. Turned ERP walkthroughs into written field requirements, keeping confirmed behavior separate from assumptions still to test. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Customer requirements, start to finish. Held external sponsors’ protocol requirements from kickoff to close, and logged deviations so the next study could adapt. Where: Charles River
  • Demos and handoff. Demoed pipelines end to end to decision-makers, ran UX review rounds and handed tools off to the people who use them. Where: Item, Inc.
  • Risk and reporting. Ran a risk register, and replaced status meetings with outcome-based reports and dashboards. Where: Item, Inc.

What I Built, and Why It Mattered.

Each one covers the problem, the solution, and how the work ran. Some of this work is confidential, so I describe what each system does, not its code or internal details.
